Building Momentum in Kayenta!
Since mobilizing onto the Kayenta Industrial Park in early June 2026, CORE Construction has made steady progress on the new Northland Pioneer College (NPC) Kayenta Center, advancing through each phase of construction and bringing the long-awaited educational facility closer to completion.
Week after week, significant improvements have taken shape as crews have remained focused on every stage of the project, from site preparation and foundation work to masonry construction and beyond.
A major milestone was reached on August 31, 2026, when project partners gathered for the NPC Beam Signing Ceremony, marking the facility as approximately 30 percent complete. The event followed the project's groundbreaking ceremony held on February 24, 2026, with construction scheduled for completion in May 2027.
NPC President Dr. Von Lawson, along with NPC administration and governing board members, toured the site as masonry walls reached their topping-out phase. Kayenta Township Commissioners, staff, and project partners also participated in the ceremony by signing a commemorative beam.
The ceremonial beam was placed in the location of the future NPC Library, creating a lasting symbol of community investment in education. In the years to come, future graduates will have the opportunity to add their names to the beam, reflecting the shared commitment to learning, achievement, and community success.
Once completed, the NPC Kayenta Center will feature classrooms, science and health laboratories, a computer lab, a Small Business Development conference room, and a library.
This transformative project is made possible through the partnership of Kayenta Township, Northland Pioneer College, and the Arizona Commerce Authority, whose collaboration is helping expand higher education opportunities for the Kayenta community and surrounding region.
